Just dropping by to say that I've been living the glorious live of vegging for the past 3 weeks ever since the semester was done. Glorious, I say. No school, no studying, no problem. I sleep when I want, I get up when I want, I run errands when I want. Normal life, I have missed you so.
Christmas was made of wins, and I'm hoping it is the same for New Year. I'll try to follow up with a longer post to sum up 2008, but in the meanwhile this will do.
I wish all of you are having a wonderful holiday and all the best in the new year!

Aaahhh.
This weekend has been better than a glass of red wine after a 12 hour shift.
Yes, that good.
I mean, I still did some schoolworks, namely process recording and care plan, but it was minimal compare to the time I spent doing other things, which is a reverse from the usual.
I got to go out with my friends and family. I got to not worry about studying for exams. I got to bake. I got to be silly and laughs freely. I got to spend time outside of my home and the hospitals. I got to play games. I got to go to a sleepover with the girls. I got to drink socially, not to relieve stress. I got to dance. I got to eat till I felt like exploding. I got to party. I got to have girlschat to the wee hour of the morning. I got to take pictures and practice taking good pictures. I got to relax on my bed with laptop on my lap editing pictures.
I got to have fun and live a normal life again. It was wonderful.
Granted, finals prep begin next week. I have to resume the abnormal life even during Thanksgiving week because we have what we have termed the "Non-HESI HESI" (don't ask) a week after Turkey Day, so studying will be on full swing soon enough until finals are over on the 10th. Then, I get to live normally again until my last semester starts January 20th. I just said last semester, oh goodness gracious how could it be.... I'll girl flip out about that later.
So this weekend was nice, I wish tomorrow wasn't Monday. But then again, I always wish tomorrow wasn't Monday every Sunday. So...yeah....
I hope your weekend was great, too.

As my friend's, Kate, license plate says.
You know it's gonna be a good clinical day when went to Starbucks to get a slice of banana nut loaf for breakfast and the barista says, "Oh I put two in there (bag) because they're small," and you know one small slice is actually enough for you but two small slices mean you have a slice for breakfast and you also have a slice for a snack later, for the price of one! Suuuhhhweeeeet!
And you also know it's gonna be a good clinical day when you're actually planning to pay for parking because you don't think anyone will go into your friend's apartment (where you usually park for free) gate at 6:15 am, therefore you can't tailgate a car in (because you don't have the code to get in, you have to call the friend to open the gate and you don't want your friend to hate you for calling her at 6:15 am), but when you pass the apartment you actually see a car turning into the complex, meaning you can get in and actually park for free! Suuuuhweeeeet!
And you also know you can finally have a break because you don't have exams for the next 3 weeks, meaning you can finally have back a semblance of your life that has been put on the back burner since school started. Case and example: I spent the weekend not touching any textbook and notes and I went to see the Duchess and the Secret Life of Bees. Suuuhhhweeeeeeet!
So as Kate's license plate says, my life, for the time being, is SUHWEET!!!!

Um, now what?
A quote courtesy of my friend's--F--facebook status: "What?! No Studying?! I don't even know what to do with myself!!!"
She couldn't be more right, because come on, the words "free time" don't exist much in the nursing students' vocabulary. So now that the do exist, it's like um, okay...really? Seriously? You mean, we can do whatever we want now?
My bestfriend asked me, as we went around to look for some of her wedding stuffs after I'm done with the short semester class (which is a walk in the park compared to the real semester btw), "Are you sure it's okay if we go to Borders to look at bridal magazines?" To which I answered, "Yea, it's alright. I have no homeworks. Omg, did I really just say that? I have no homework?!"
It feels VERY WEIRD that I can--for everyday of this week--go out with my bestfriend to finally fulfill my maid of honor duty and have scheduled lunch, dinner, and happy hour with a bunch of friends (Look, friends! Outside school friends! Who still remember me, yay!) before I leave for the internship. I am not complaining about the abundance of free time, but it doesn't erase the fact that it does feels strange--other wordly even--to go from being busy and chased by due dates to not having to worry about school.
For almost everyday of last week, I had to truly convince myself that no, I didn't have any deadline missed and yes, I really do have this much free time, because I felt like I was supposed to be doing some kind of school works when in reality, the only time we had to study in this elective class was for the midterm last Friday and the final this Friday. Oh, and I scored a 99 on the midterm, it was that easy.
I have time to read, I have time to exercise, I have time to pack, I have time to have lunches and dinners with friends without checking my watch thinking I have to get home soon to study or write papers, I have time to chat online with my friends, I have time to talk to my parents on the phone for more than 30 minutes, I have time to take a nap, I have time to change my car's oil on time along with getting it washed, I have time to do laundry before I realize I've run out of clean underwear, I have time to go on dessert runs.
I.finally.have.the.freaking.time.to do normal things and it is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Like, wow, I'm not calling what I'm doing procrastinating because well, there is nothing I'm procrastinating on--okay, I lie, maybe I am on procrastinating on this one thing called packing. Mostly, I call what I'm doing these days...vegging. Awesome!
Okay, enough of me blogging about being jaw-droppingly shocked having free time. I'm just being a dork.

Break.
So Spring Break is here, and I love it. Okay, I won't exactly love it starting tomorrow because that is when I start slaving away with homeworks and studying and what not.
That said, this past 5 days of a very much needed break have been wonderful. This past weekend I went on a little trip to a beach, we fished, we did puzzle, I finished a book. Yesterday and today, I slept in, I youtubed (very addicting), and I shopped. Maaaarvelous time I say!
And in case you didn't notice, I said I FINISHED reading a book! My first one this year, and my first in MONTHS! This may sound ridiculous to you, but finishing this book is one of the things I most proud of in the last 9 months. I love to read, and I usually (meaning pre-nursing school) read a book--if not 2--a month, it depends, but all in all I read regularly. That changed once I started nursing school, since last August I could only recall reading 4 books. That is sad.
My read list has grown longer and longer, I've wanted to read so badly, yet I kept telling myself I had not time and I'd feel guilty if I'm straying from those daunting nursing textbooks. But that ended earlier this month when I braved myself into a budget bookstore and grabbed me 2 books. TWO! I didn't know buying books could make me that happy, and finishing made me even more so.
Somewhere in the middle of the school chaos, I found time, I found it therapeutic, and I fell in love all over again with reading. And yes, I realized that sounds the so cheesy, but dammit, I didn't feel guilty about having a me time and I'm going to brag about it! Okay so, book numero uno, Middlesex by the way, is done, book numero dos, Snow falling on Cedars, is next. Also next are studying for big Acute test #2, Acute and OB care plans, journal papers, discussion papers, and some kind of project I haven't even look at.
My Spring Break ends today. Boo....
Update on the internship: NONE. Letter still has not arrived. I'm getting antsier and antsier by day.

Dream.
Last night, I had a dream that I got the out of town internship that I wanted. When I was a kid, someone told me that what happens in your dream, the opposite will happen in reality, but, I know some who say otherwise. The point is, I am never one to read into dreams or to be superstitious, so I'm not going to read into this. It probably happened because it's been on my mind a lot, and I have been anxiously waiting for the answer now that it is mid-March, which when the recruiter said I will receive the yes or no letter.
Anyway, clinical went well tonight, I was on postpartum. Post-conference, though, was something else. Have I ever said that my OB CI is a comedienne as well? Well, let it be said now that she is HIL-freaking-ARIOUS!
And and and, SPRING BREAK IS HERE!!!!! WAAAHOOOO!!!! Granted, I have to study for the big ass Acute test the Monday we come back, but pssshhh, I can still SLEEP in for a week! A WEEK, I say! *dances*

Reporting from LA
Ah, I love vacation. I hope you have a great holiday too with your loved ones. I spent Christmas morning packing for this trip, then a big lunch with my family, then moved my cousin's things into the Grands' house. My grandparents are surely loving the array of grandchildren living with them. Christmas night was spent at a friend's house with a fabulous dinner. Twas a good day.
So here I am in LA, and so far I have spent the majority of my time vegging in front of the TV watching entertainment news. Yeah, did you know Mischa Barton got arrested for DUI? Dang, getting jailed is like the thing to do in 2007. Also, I didn't realize how many entertainment shows there are out there, oh and not to mention the reality shows. Heh.
I've been to LA last year and done the touristy things already, so this is the relax, chill, and do nothing kind of vacation. So far my friend and I have just been hanging out, I got a massage (amazing!) and she got accupuncture (I cringed but she said it was great) yesterday. OH and then IN n OUT! I love it, best fries ever!
Anyway, that's the vacation so far. One of these days, I'll go for something tropic. Miles of beach, the clearest sea and the bluest sky with an abundance of sunshine, sipping a drink from a glass with the little umbrella thing, hearing a faint sound of ukulele being played nearby.....

Sweet freedom
Did Cee just survived her first semester of nursing school?!
Oh, yes she DID!!!!
Waaahooooo!!! *dances*
I made it out of the semester with a 90 in Concepts and an 86 in Pharmacology, I haven't found out about Assessment but I'm guessing it's a B as well. So yay!
I'm so excited I will finally have TIME for ya know, life, that I don't even care that I came down with a cold this morning. I'm just excited about this month long break, oh the possibilities. I could laundry my clothes and put them away on the same day! No more clean laundry in the basket for 2 weeks! Woot! I could catch up with friends, no more being the last person to know everything. What? She's married? When? Whaa?
And the best thing about this break is that I'm traveling west to visit a good friend of mine. So psyched about hanging out with her for a week, we could lounge in PJ's all day and it would still be the grandest time. I'm coming in 13 days, Stepha!
For whoever reading this, if you're in school, I hope you did great on your finals as well and happy I'm-finally-done-with-the-semester!
Oh, yes she DID!!!!

Gobble Gobble
I'm done with the last exams before finals start, in which I got 96 on Concepts, 90 on Pharmacology, 85 on Assessment. Mwaahahhaa....
Thanksgiving break is finally here, but heh, I'm not really excited because Thanksgiving break = practicing for head to toe check off = NO FUN! Plus, I'm going on a church trip--a 12 hour bus trip. Needless to say, I'm bringing my Assessment book, stethoscope, reflex hammer, pen light, and what have you with me, and you bet your bottom dollar I'd be practicing on my roommate any chance I get a break. The poor thing....
Oh, so on Sunday whilst at the neighborhood Starbucks (studying of course), the barista said a completely different thing than the medical center Starbucks barista. This one said, "I love your outfit, it's very Audrey Hepburn!" Hah! Them non medical center baristas are so sheltered from the world of sleep deprived and stressed out health related students....
Today, I woke up at 10:20 am. 10:20! That's the latest I've slept in for in like 6 months, though after waking up at 4 am the last 7 Tuesdays, I was frantic when I saw 10:20 on the clock.
First, I thought "WTH?! Why am I not at the hospital?!"
Second, I thought my CI is going to kill me.
Third, I thought it's going to take at least 10 minutes trying to locate my scrubs amidst the pile of clothes on in my room.
Fourth, I thought, "Oh, wait a minute...."
Fifth, I thought "Dammit, I could've studied more head to toe had I woken up earlier!!!"
Gah, my head is so screwed. There is nothing up there beside school, hospital, and studying. My bestfriend informed me this weekend that she got stressed just by watching me study. Meanwhile, my other bestfriend, who is studying to be a Physician Assistant, studied with me while she was in town visiting during her in-between-rotation break. I guess I'm not alone in the world of nerdyness....
Anyway, I have to start packing for the trip. I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, eat aplenty and be safe!

DUNZO!
I am D to the O, the N the E with summer school with a B to boot!
Now I have been doing little to nothing ever since school is done (have about a week of break before a string of orientations and eventually the semester) and was actually quite confused of what to do with this oh so much free time. But fear no more for I have made a to do list, which consist of:
1. Get my car an alignment service and get it inspected.
2. Clean my room, it looks like my closet flew in and exploded there. Not pretty. This brings me to number 3.
3. Fold the clean clothes, it's been in the basket for...hrrmm a week? I think....
4. Pick up a new book to read, probably My Sister's Keeper.
5. Get my friend her long overdue birthday present, which brings me to number 6.
6. Wish my other friend a belated 'Happy Birthday' (what? I was busy studying...), which brings me to number 7.
7. Get Dad's birthday present. Don't worry, I actually remembered calling him on the day. This brings me to number 8.
8. Figured out where to have a my birthday dinner--a proper one--before we go clubbing and get trashed for the night....
9. Get up early tomorrow morning to take the newly-arrived-to-the-U.S. of A cousin to see the counselor at his school. Thing reminds me of number 10.
10. Call the student life office and demand them of my I-20. Damn, I would've been rich if I had a dolla' for everytime they said "It'll be ready soon, I'll call you." Apparently their standard of 'soon' is different than mine, I thought 'soon' meant within a week or two and they thought 'soon' is 3 months and going. Bah.
11. Figured out the time and dates for my three orientations and the CPR class. Yes, they're making me go to three, go figure. One for International Students, One for new Undergraduate Nursing Students, one is for something else I couldn't remember which is why this is on the to do list. Bah Bah.
12. Pay Fall Semester tuition. BAH BAH BAH!
That is all.
