White flurries started to fall this Wednesday afternoon, and as my friends and I sat at a bar celebrating the end of the semester, those small white flurries turned to snow flakes that fell from the sky as if it was a white curtain drawing close our stage as we finished "The Final Exams" scene of Act I of "The Senior Year". It couldn't be a more fitting closure to this chaotic first half of our play. We started off with Hurricane Ike and ended with a freezing weather topped with snow. Darn that mother nature! But for now, we can rest in our dressing room for a 6 weeks intermission before Act II starts.
And for the record, the last time it snowed in this city was 4 years ago. And when it does snow, it's never that much snow, so excuse us for going ga-ga with this snow thing because we don't usually get this kind of thing down here.
Let me shout it out, because I can: I AM D.O.N.E! Done done done done done!!!! I can't describe how relieve I am that it is all over and I can finally breathe again. Today's final was fair, much like the Pedi final. I passed that Adult final with flying colors and rounded up a high B for the class. It feels really good to finally be able to say "I have one semester left in nursing school"--a little scary too, but good, nonetheless.
Like I have mentioned before, I have 6 weeks intermission before Act II starts. 6 weeks that I am very much looking forward to spend enjoying a normal life. SUUUHHHWWWEEEET!!!

Made.
Today was Psych exam #2, aka judgment day of some sort because I failed the first one miserably so I needed to make at least 75 on this one and at least a 75 on the Final to make that passing grade of 72 at the end of the semester. So this exam is a make or break for me, if I make below 75, the chance of me passing is slimmer than if I make above. I hated Psych with passion, and the instructors elicit the same sentiment out of me. It's just not my forte, I always feel like I'm in rut with this class. I know I'm not the only one feeling like this, the whole class does too.
The past few days have been a pressure cooker for me. I've studied and studied, practiced questions on the NCLEX book, doubted myself more than I can count, and it was just so draining. This morning anxiety was in overdrive, I kept reminding myself to calm down, trying not to hyperventilate. When I got to school, all the faces I saw were those of nervousness. It was just not a pretty sight at all.
We had a review right after the exam, and let me tell you, test review in this Psych is like a an outlet for that pent up anger. We're all frustrated and the instructors are just not helping, and yeah, it can get pretty hostile in there. Again, not a pretty sight.
But I made it. I passed, with an 84!!!! I was beyond relieved. I believed my faith played a part in that. I've also been praying for the past few days, so have my friends and family, and we believe prayers do work. I'm a testament for that today. I can't explain it electronically here, I can't describe how tricky the questions can be, how hard the instructors are on us. 84 might sound like a no big deal for some, but when you made a 66 on the first exam, 84 is a big deal. So. relieved.
Now, it's time to hit the book for another test next week. Ah, the life of a nursing student.
Happy voting, everyone! I'm not a citizen or permanent resident, so I can't vote. I wish I could....

Auf wiedersehen, Junior II!!
I can proudly say that I have officially finished (and survived) my second semester of nursing school. HUZZAAH!!! Today is my last final and I am D-O-N-E with Junior II semester. WOOT!!!
I took the OB final and scored an 85 on it, giving me an 86 in the class. I have an 80 in Adult Health, and two A's in the two 2 credit hours classes. I'm still waiting for the final grade in another 2 credit hours class. I'm hoping for an A in that class so I can have 2 B's for the big classes and 3 A's for the small classes.
So relieved and happy to be done. I come back for a short semester on Monday for nursing elective, and leave for the internship right after that. Can't wait!!!

Different.
I just made my first C of the semester and I'm not even feeling bummed. Usually, I'd be disappointed, today I'm like...blah, whatever.
This is very weird.
First, I didn't care about studying (I made a high B on that test luckily) and now I don't care that I got a C?! Something is wrong. I don't quite like this new "I don't care" mode. It unnerves me.

Red Bull, where are you?
Week 2 of being at school 8/9 am-4 pm Monday-Friday, and I am dead. All day lectures/labs and then having to keep up with the online classes and group projects left me so drained. But that's the way the semester is going to be, so I'll manage to keep up with it eventually. For now I'm just dead.
Had the first test of the semester today, it was over pregnancy and I got a 94. Also, I passed the meds calculation test, which I wasn't to worry about beforehand but once I got to the test, I realized that most of the questions were more complicated than what we reviewed. We have to make 100 on it to pass (granted you have 2 more chances if you fail the first one), so you can imagine we were all thinking we had to take it again next week. But I made a 100, so yay!
I'm gonna shower and go to bed. At 7 pm. Yes. I kid you not.

Sweet freedom
Did Cee just survived her first semester of nursing school?!
Oh, yes she DID!!!!
Waaahooooo!!! *dances*
I made it out of the semester with a 90 in Concepts and an 86 in Pharmacology, I haven't found out about Assessment but I'm guessing it's a B as well. So yay!
I'm so excited I will finally have TIME for ya know, life, that I don't even care that I came down with a cold this morning. I'm just excited about this month long break, oh the possibilities. I could laundry my clothes and put them away on the same day! No more clean laundry in the basket for 2 weeks! Woot! I could catch up with friends, no more being the last person to know everything. What? She's married? When? Whaa?
And the best thing about this break is that I'm traveling west to visit a good friend of mine. So psyched about hanging out with her for a week, we could lounge in PJ's all day and it would still be the grandest time. I'm coming in 13 days, Stepha!
For whoever reading this, if you're in school, I hope you did great on your finals as well and happy I'm-finally-done-with-the-semester!

The universe just hates me today...well, and yesterday too....
You know the cliche that says doctors and nurses make for the worst patients? True.
I got a taste of that in clinical yesterday. When I informed the patient that I was giving his SubQ, he scoffed with that "Nuh uh, you ain't giving that" look. My instructor was surprised as well, but what can we say, we just have to respect the patient's decision. I thought his being a nurse would make him more understanding, seeing as once upon a time he was a student nurse too, but I guess not. Heck, he didn't even let the charge nurse drew the syringe, let just say the only reason he didn't give it himself was because he couldn't reach and see all the way back to his butt.
Yesterday's Pharm test totally raped us, and everybody was bitching about it afterward. We pretty much told each other the same story, which is within the first 3 questions we went "What the hell is this??!!!" and declared ourselves doomed. Yeah...not good.
Today, it took forever for the view grade page to load. I'm not kidding it feels like I'm back at the ancient time where internet was slow was a snail. Finally a year and a minute later, I found out my grade is thisclose to a B. Oh wells, I don't like it but it's better than what a lot of us expected to get on that test, so I made peace with it.
Today, someone stole my lunch. Yes, as in I put my Healthy Choice lunch in a plastic bag, tied it, and put it in the school's fridge before class and when I went to get it after class it was gone. None. Nada. Disappeared. And this is after I found out that Pharm's grade and I was tired and hungry. I was mad. I mean really mad, steam blowing out of my ears mad.
If I just shove the box in the fridge I would get it if someone just took it, but it was in a tied plastic bag just like everybody else's lunch in that stocked fridge. So do people just decide to open everybody's lunch in the school's fridge in hope to find something they can steal? "Oh look, a PB & J sandwich! Ew, no! Tuna sandwich! Hmm, good but not great, let see what else do we got here. Oh, a chicken alfredo microwave lunch! Let's steal that one!" Die you stupid lunch stealer, die!
Must I really put a note on my lunch that says my name and a "DO NOT STEAL" post-it? None of the lunches in that fridge had that kind of "back off" notes, and I would hate it to be the only one to bestow such snarky message. And the thing is, lunch stealer could've bought the same freaken microwave lunch plus salads and sandwiches from the cafe on the first floor. What is wrong with you, lunch stealer??!!
